Mehlinda Heartt is a Professionally Recognized Vancouver Harpist with over 40 years of
Professional Experience. She has performed at Thousands of Weddings, Corporate
Events, Funerals, Festivals, Concerts, and many other functions, as a soloist and
performing with other instrumentalists. She is the CEO of her own Harp Agency
“HARPISTRY”. She is also a Composer, Arranger and Publisher of Harp music with
‘Avalon Music Press (Her published music can be seen at various music stores,
including Long and McQuade), she was a winner in the 2009 American Harp Societies
Composers Competition, and she has recorded on several Artists Albums.
Mehlinda also has a Harp Choir that performs at various concerts and events throughout
the year, and she also has two new Musical Groups called Mystic Avalon, and Mystic
Paradis, that performs twice weekly at the East is East Restaurant and other venues.
Mehlinda has also played in several Orchestra’s over the years.
Mehlinda is the first harpist in the world to have a website with sound and video
recordings back in 1996. Her repertoire incorporates, Classical, Popular, World, Persian,
Celtic, French and other Music. She is a composer and performs her own works at
Performances. Her style of teaching incorporates a very solid technique, chords and
inversion recognition, and she teaches improvisation, arranging and composition for the
Harp. Mehlinda is also a skilled Opera singer, and Baroque and Flamenco dancer, and
understands the line, and and tempi in all types of music.
Rosanna Chiu is a professional harp teacher and concert harpist. Her students participate at local harp events such as Kiwanis Music Festival, Vancouver Harp Day, as well as at various recitals and volunteer events.
Graduated from the New England Conservatory (Boston, Massachusetts) in harp performance, Rosanna received training from Ina Zdorovetchi (harp) and David Zoffer (jazz). Classically trained on piano, she received training on guzheng, Celtic harp and pedal harp. Rosanna has worked with orchestras including Vancouver Island Symphony, Okanagan Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Opera Orchestra, West Coast Symphony, Vancouver Philharmonic Orchestra, and Vancouver Bach Choir. She has performed at venues such as the Orpheum and the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts. Rosanna studied harp with Elizabeth Volpé Bligh (Vancouver Symphony Orchestra), Judy Loman (Toronto Symphony Orchestra) and Cynthia Price-Glynn (Boston Ballet Orchestra).
In her spare time, Rosanna enjoys making harp arrangements and exploring different music textures on harp. She collaborates regularly with the composition department of the Vancouver Academy of Music, and is an active member with the American Harp Society. One of her musical goals is to develop composer workshops to promote compositions of new harp music. Rosanna is also a Certified therapeutic musician and is passionate about therapeutic music that enhances the healing atmosphere in medical settings.
